Mei Hasegawa Named MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Central Oklahoma Sophomore Went 4-0 In Two Duals To Lead UCO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma sophomore Mei Hasegawa was named MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
The sophomore from Japan went 4-0 last week to lead the Bronchos to a pair of wins in Edmond. UCO beat Northeastern State 5-2 on Thursday before a 7-0 win over Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday.
 
Hasegawa won 6-1, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-0 in her two singles matches. She won 6-2 in both doubles matches to go 4-0 on the week.
 
Hasegawa is ranked No. 22 in the country in the latest ITA Singles Top 75 and No. 10 in the latest ITA Doubles Top 50. She is 14-1 on the season in singles competition and 14-2 in doubles play.
 
Central Oklahoma is wrapping up the regular season this week with a trip to Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney. The MIAA Women's Tennis Championship is scheduled for May 1-3 in Springfield, Missouri. UCO is currently tied for first place in the league standings.
