Day 1 Complete In Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. – Most of Central Oklahoma's contingent got the Washburn Open started Friday with four Top 10 marks highlighting the first day of the event.

Tayln Been's sixth-place finish in the pole vault, immediately followed by Mattison Thetford in seventh, were part of the standout performances. Been cleared three previous heights before topping 3.15 meters. Thetford topped the first two before clearing 3.00 meters. Luz Lugo-Ponce also finished 10th in the event with a 2.85-meter mark.

Gracie Sanders continued her solid start to the season, finishing seventh in the 5,000-meter run. She posted a time of 19:16.97 for another top 10 mark.

Jakobi Bartling wasn't too far off the top 10 in the high jump, finishing 14th with a height of 1.45 meters. Dahsauni Lyday finished 19th in the weight throw (14.31m) and Tatum Robertson 26th (13.79m).

UCO also had sprinters Dekayla Gaines finish 45th in the 60-meter prelims with a time of 8.17 seconds, and Kyrese Richard finished 90th in the same event at 8.74 seconds.
