Bronchos Return For Spring Season

SPRING, Texas – Central Oklahoma returns for its Spring season as the Bronchos host the Southern Invite at Cypresswood Golf Club.

The 6,035 par 72 course in north Houston is playing host to 12 teams from the MIAA, the Lone Star Conference, Great American Conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference. Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes Monday beginning at 8 a.m. The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday, also with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

"We're looking forward to getting back for the first time since the Fall," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "We've had some good days to be out at practice and we've had a lot of time indoors. We'll see how things go and we're looking forward to it."

Central Oklahoma played five fall tournaments and finished in the top eight in four of those. The Bronchos finished a season-best second at the Grace Shin Invitational.

Jirasuda Khunarak led the Bronchos through five tournaments in the Fall with a 76.82 scoring average. The junior college transfer had a low round of 72 and a best finish of fifth. Madison O'Dell also had a best finish of fifth in the Fall and averaged 78.7 through 12 rounds of golf.

Emma Shelley (79.0) and Mika Ramos (79.4) were third and fourth on the team scoring list. Nanya Hinsui (81.8) played in three tournaments and Arin Zachary (82.5) played in four tournaments.

UCO has five tournaments on tap for the Spring. The Bronchos are playing in the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational March 6-7 at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City. UCO will then go to Destin, Florida for the Emerald Coast Classic the following week.

Central Oklahoma plays two in April. The Bronchos go to Newton, Kansas for the Newman Invite April 3-4 and Joplin, Missouri for the Dr. Virginia Laas Classic April 10-11.
