ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (Oct. 9) – Dylan Henderson fired a second-round 68 to lead Central Oklahoma into a second-place tie after first-day play in the Holiday Inn Express Classic Monday.
The Bronchos opened with a 292 in the morning before coming back with a 286 to finish two trips around the 6,612-yard, par-71 St. Joseph Country Club with a 578 total. Missouri Southern leads the 17-team tournament at 561, with UCO and Northeastern State tied for second and Winona State fourth at 579.
Final-round play starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Henderson followed his morning 73 with the afternoon 68 to finish at one-under-par 141, leaving him seventh in the individual standings. The Bronchos also got rounds of 72-73 from Ross Taylor, while Nick Canales shot 76-71, Caleb Kimmel 71-76 and Evan Griffith 77-74.
Henderson started second-round play on No. 17 and promptly birdied his first two holes before bogeying No. 1. The junior birdied the par-5 third and par-4 fifth holes to drop to three-under, then played the five seven holes at even-par to finish there for his 68.
Taylor offset seven birdies with three double bogeys and four bogeys in finishing at three-over 145, leaving him tied for 14th.
