Central Oklahoma Finishes Fifth At Tulsa Cup

Bronchos Wrap Up Fall Season With Third Straight Top Five Finish

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up its fall schedule Tuesday with a fifth place showing in The Tulsa Cup, hosted by Rogers State at The Club at Forest Ridge.
 
UCO posted a 54-hole score of 930 (316-302-312). Central Missouri won the team title with an 873. Southwestern Oklahoma State (899), Rogers State (910), and Arkansas Tech (926) were also in the top five ahead of the Bronchos.

Estela Castillo led the Bronchos this week at Forest Ridge. The freshman from Spain earned her highest finish of the fall with a 15th-place finish. She posted a 54-hole score of 230, 14-over par. Castillo opened with an 81 on Monday morning before firing a 75 on Monday afternoon. She finished Tuesday with a 2-over-par 74, her lowest score of the fall.
 
Castillo started on the par-3 sixth and began her final round with an impressive 13 consecutive pars. The freshman double-bogeyed No. 1 and bogeyed No. 2 before sinking her only birdie putt of the day on the par-4 third. She finished with back-to-back pars to close out the day.
 
Jirasuda Khunarak was just one shot back of Castillo, shooting a 15-over 231 this week. The senior from Thailand had a pair of 4-over 76s on Monday and shot a 7-over 79 Tuesday. Khunarak started on No. 4 and had nine pars and one birdie on the day and finished tied for 18th place.
 
Mika Ramos nearly joined Castillo and Khunarak in the Top 20. The senior from Tulsa shot a 17-over 233. Ramos posted a 79 and 74 on Monday before carding an 8-over 80 on Tuesday. Ramos had 11 pars during her final round of play.
 
Drew Faires rounded out the counting scores for UCO, posting a 54-hole score of 238, 22-over par. Faires, a junior from Oklahoma City, shot an 80 and a 79 on Monday and posted a 79 once again on Tuesday. She had 10 pars on the day to go along with one birdie.
 
Emma Shelley also competed for Central Oklahoma this week. The fifth-year senior posted a 241 (81-77-83).
 
Central Oklahoma is done with the 2023 portion of its 2023-24 schedule. The Bronchos finished 15th, sixth, fourth, fifth, and fifth, in five tournaments this fall. UCO returns in February with the Southern Invite in Spring, Texas.
