UCO Hosts No. 8 Washburn

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma begins a season-ending four-game homestand Friday afternoon when the Bronchos host Washburn in an MIAA contest at Tom Thompson Field.
 
Central Oklahoma is 4-4-6 overall on the season and the Bronchos have 1-2-4 record in the MIAA. Washburn is ranked No. 8 in the country and 12-1-1 on the season. The Ichabods from Topeka, Kansas are 6-0-1 in the MIAA.
 
"It's a big weekend for us," UCO head women's soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We're going to have to be at our best, but we're also at the point of the season where you have to be at your best every game. We're in the final stretch and we have to be at the top of our game."
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 1.57 goals per game this season. The Bronchos average 11.7 shots per game and put 47 percent of those shots on goal.
 
Lauren Piper and Amaya Grace both lead the Bronchos with four goals scored. Piper has a team-high three assists. Albany Adair and Elena Conaway both have scored three goals this season. Matilda Torres has two goals and five others have scored once.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma allows 1.21 goals per game this season. Teams take 10.5 shots per game and put 42 percent of the shots on goal.
 
Caroline Faulkner has played nine games in goal this season and in 765 total minutes, the junior keeper has 26 saves. Faulkner has 101 career saves and is ninth in school history at that mark. She has a 1.29 goals against average this season.
 
Avery Bass and Olivia Vigil have both played in three games in goal. Bass has 10 saves and has allowed four goals. Vigil also has 10 saves and has allowed two goals.
 
Washburn averages 2.0 goals per game, with 28 on the year. The Ichabods take 11.3 shots per game and put 57 percent of those on goal. Washburn allows just 0.5 goals per game, having only conceded seven goals in 14 games. The Ichabods face just 5.5 shots per game and only 46 percent of those are on goal. WU has nine shutouts on the season.
 
Central Oklahoma also hosts Emporia State on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Hornets of Emporia, Kansas are 5-5-4 overall and 4-2-1 in league play. ESU plays at Newman Friday.
 
UCO wraps up the regular season next weekend with two more home games. The Bronchos host Rogers State and Newman in the last two contests.
