Central Finishes Fifth In Warrensburg

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma moved up a few spots on the team leaderboard Tuesday as the Bronchos wrapped up the Midwest Classic with a fifth-place finish at Mules National.

UCO posted a 613 (315-298). Host Central Missouri won the team title with a 582, while Minnesota State (607), Missouri Western (608), and Augustana (608) finished in front of the Bronchos.

Jirasuda Khunarak led the Bronchos with a 13th place individual finish. The senior from Thailand shot a 5-over-par 75 on Tuesday, shaving two strokes of her Monday score to finish with a 36-hole 152.

Mika Ramos was one back. The senior from Tulsa shaved one stroke off her Monday score and finished at 13-over 153 (77-76) to tie for 14th individually.

Emma Shelley had a big improvement on Tuesday. After the senior from Bartlesville shot an 11-over 81 on Monday, she responded with a 4-over 74 on Tuesday to finished tied for 21st with a 155.

MaKaylee Cowan rounded out the counting scores for the Bronchos. The freshman from Yukon, Oklahoma shot a 158 (80-78) with improvement on Day 2 to finish tied for 33rd.

Estela Castillo also competed for the Bronchos. She had the biggest improvement from Monday to Tuesday. The freshman from Spain shaved 13 strokes off her score and finished with a 36-hole 159 (86-73).

Central Oklahoma has just one fall tournament left. The Bronchos visit The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow next week for The Tulsa Cup, hosted by Rogers State.

UCO will open the spring semester with the Southern Invite, a tournament hosted by the Bronchos in Spring, Texas, just north of Houston. The Bronchos return with that event Feb. 18-19, 2024.
