UCO Duo Advances In ITA Cup Quest

ROME, Ga. - Central Oklahoma's standout doubles team opened the 2023 ITA Cup with a win on Thursday, advancing to the national quarterfinals. 

Blythe Buntrock and Pete Komada won their first match at the national finals Thursday afternoon. The duo beat Tiffany Carrillo and Sophie Rachor from Concordia-Irvine in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-3. 

UCO's duo now moves on to face Deniza Marcinkevica and Greta Schieroni of Lynn University. That quarterfinal matchup is scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).

A win would put a UCO team in the semifinals of the ITA Cup for the third consecutive season. Buntrock made the semifinals last year with teammate Nikki  Boyar. Mae and Christine Canete won the ITA Cup doubles national championship in 2021. 

Buntrock and Komada improved to 8-1 this fall with Thursday's win.
