Komada, Koga Ousted in ITA Cup Round of 16

Bronchos Return In Spring Semester

ROME, Ga. – Central Oklahoma's time at the ITA Cup ended Thursday in the Round of 16 for both UCO's singles and doubles appearances.
 
Pete Komada lost 6-1, 6-2 in her singles match and Komada along with Ayaka Koga lost 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 in their doubles match.
 
"We're proud of both Pete and Ayaka for getting to this point," UCO head women's tennis coach Joe Vann said. "While we hoped to advance further, getting to this point was no small feat and we're proud of them."
 
Komada faced Nova Southeastern's Kristyna Hranacova, the No. 2 seed in the ITA Cup, on Thursday morning. She lost in straight sets to the South Region champion.
 
Komada and Koga then faced No. 2 seed from Barry, Dana Heimen and Anastasia-Aleksandra Nikolova, and lost a tightly contested match. UCO battled through a first-set tiebreaker before falling in straight sets.
 
The ITA Cup continues Friday with the national quarterfinals.
 
UCO's fall season concluded with its appearance at the national tournament. The Bronchos will return in the spring semester for their championship season.
