ROME, Ga. – Central Oklahoma's top doubles team opens the 2023 ITA Cup Thursday at the Rome Tennis Center, where the Bronchos are competing for a national championship.

Buntrock and Komada will take on Tiffany Carrillo and Sophie Rachor from the University of Concordia – Irvine in the Round of 16 at 4 p.m. Thursday. The winning duo will advance and meet the winner of Mercyhurst and Lynn in the national quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. and the ITA Cup national championship match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the same day.

All times are Eastern Daylight Time one hour ahead of Oklahoma time.

Buntrock also won the ITA Central Region doubles championship in 2022 before making the ITA Cup semifinals. She played all 21 of her doubles matches a year ago with former teammate Nikki  Boyar. Since teaming up with Komada this fall, the duo is 7-1. They went 2-1 at the Rumble by the River to start the fall season over one month ago. Then the duo posted a 5-0 record last month at the regional tournament.

Central Oklahoma has seen a lot of success at both the ITA Regional and the ITA Cup in recent years. The Bronchos have won the regional championship with a doubles team in each of the last four tournaments (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) and Mae and Christine Canete won the doubles national championship in 2021.

The ITA Cup wraps up the fall slate for the Bronchos. UCO will take the rest of the semester off before prepping for its spring schedule.
