Bronchos Finish Sixth In Kansas

HAYS, Kan. – Central Oklahoma finished sixth in the Lady Tiger Classic after the 36-hole MIAA event wrapped up Tuesday at Smoky Hill Country Club.

Central Oklahoma posted rounds of 322 and 328 for a two-round 650. Central Missouri won the event with a 608 (303-305).

"We didn't play our best," UCO head women's golf coach Michael Bond said. "There were a lot of high scores today. We couldn't get going and string a few good holes together. But we'll learn from this and get ready for our tournament next week."

Jirasuda Khunarak also finished sixth in the individual standings. The junior posted a 36-hole 10-over 154, just three shots back of the individual champion. Her five birdies in the tournament were the second-most of any player and her 1-over par aggregate on Par 4s this week was the best mark of any player in the field.

UCO also got a 16th-place finish from Emma Shelley, who posted a 14-over 158. Shelley hit 21 pars on 36 holes this week, which tied for fifth in the field.

Madison O'Dell (168) and Nanya Hinsui (170) rounded out the score cards for the Bronchos. Mika Ramos posted a 174.

Arin Zachary also competed this week as an individual and she also finished 26th with a 36-hole 164.

Central Oklahoma will play its third tournament in as many weeks next week in Edmond. The Bronchos are hosting the annual Grace Shin Invitational at the Golf Club of Edmond Oct. 3-4.
