No. 12 UCO Clashes With No. 4 UCM

Central Oklahoma visits Central Missouri In Warrensburg For Crucial MIAA Contest

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 12 Central Oklahoma takes on No. 4 Central Missouri in a crucial early season MIAA match Friday night.
 
UCO is 6-0-2 on the season. The Bronchos were ranked No. 7 in the country two weeks ago, No. 10 last week, and now head to UCM ranked No. 12. Central Oklahoma is 1-0-0 in MIAA play this season.
 
UCM is 7-0-1 on the season. The Jennies were ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll, dropped to No. 19 after their one draw, then jumped back to No. 6 before moving up to their current No. 4 position. UCM is also 1-0-0 in MIAA play.
 
Friday night's matchup features several league leaders.
 
The teams are 1 and 2 in the league in scoring with Central Missouri averaging 3.1 goals per game and Central Oklahoma averaging 2.3 per game.  
 
For Central Oklahoma, the Bronchos are led by Madison Linavong. The sophomore midfielder has three goals scored and eight assists. Her assists mark not only leads the MIAA, but all of Division II.
 
Amaya Grace is the team leader in goals scored, with four so far this season. That mark is sixth in the MIAA. She also has one assist. Eden Jones is tied with Linavong for second on the team with three goals scored.
 
Lauren Piper, Monika McGee, and Emily Tincher each have two goals scored this season. Zoe Ross, Lauren Hinnenkamp and Kylee Wickersham all have scored one goal.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma is allowing 0.88 goals per game through eight games played. That's the third-best mark in the MIAA. UCO has three shutouts on the season.
 
Avery Bass and Caroline Faulkner have split time in goal for the Bronchos. Bass is 4-0-0 with 16 saves in four games played. Faulkner is 2-0-2 with 13 saves in four games played. Both have allowed three goals. Bass has two of Central's shutouts and Faulkner is credited with the other.
 
Central Missouri is led by Caroline Cole, who has six goals and four assists. Julia Kristensen has five goals and Madilyn Hamline has scored four. Sydney Beck has played all eight games in goal for the Jennies and has 21 saves with a 1.20 goals-against average.
 
Central Missouri owns a 13-7-3 advantage in the all-time series against Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos last victory in the series came in 2019 in Warrensburg. UCO beat UCM in the MIAA Championship Semifinals, snapping a 54-game home win streak by the Jennies.
 
UCO won the league championship two days later. The Bronchos also won the MIAA Championship over Central Missouri in 2018.
 
Central Oklahoma is scheduled to continue on the road following Friday night's matchup in Warrensburg. UCO will visit Joplin, Missouri to take on Missouri Southern State Sunday afternoon.
 
UCO will play at home next weekend, hosting Nebraska Kearney on Friday, Sept. 30 before welcoming Fort Hays State to Edmond on Sunday, Oct. 2.
