Kimmel, Taylor Lead Bronchos At NSU Tourney

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Sept. 20) – Caleb Kimmel and Ross Taylor both shot even-par 71s to lead Central Oklahoma on the final day of the 24th Annual NSU Golf Classic Tuesday.

The Bronchos closed with a 294 to finish 14th in the two-day, 54-hole tournament with an 885 total on the 6,726-yard, par-71 Muskogee Golf Club.

Bennett Baldwin and Evan Griffith added 76s and Carson Blaser a 77 for UCO.

"We didn't play like we're capable of the last two days," head coach Derrick Thompson said. "Our guys are disappointed and they're ready to get back to work to fix the mistakes we're making."

Kimmel had a pair of front-nine bogeys in making the turn at two-over 38 before getting it going on the back nine. The junior birdied the par-5 10th and par-3 12th before finishing with six straight pars to finish off a closing 33.

Taylor dropped two strokes on the second hole of the day, then made three birdies in making the turn a one-under 35. The junior got to two-under with a birdie on No. 10, but had two bogeys the rest of the way in coming in with a back-nine 36.

The Bronchos are back in action next week, going to Afton, Okla. for the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational at Shangri-La Golf Resort.
