No. 10 Central Oklahoma Hosts Rogers State

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night On Tap For Friday At Tom Thompson Field

EDMOND – No. 10 Central Oklahoma hosts Rogers State Friday night in the final non-conference game of the season for the Bronchos. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
 
UCO is also hosting Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. All Central Oklahoma faculty and staff get in free with their campus ID and can enter in a drawing to win UCO soccer gear.
 
Central Oklahoma is 5-0-1 this season through three weeks of play. The Bronchos won their first five games of the year before tying Northeastern State this past Sunday in Tahlequah. The rematch is Sunday at 1 p.m. in Edmond.
 
"We've had a good start and we're focused on consistency now," UCO head women's soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We know we can get better and we're trying to get a little better every day. We need to be consistent and focused this weekend."
 
UCO is ranked No. 10 in the country in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25. The Bronchos also rank 11th nationally in goals scored after three weeks of play.
 
Amaya Grace and Eden Jones both lead the Bronchos with three goals each. Emily Tincher and Lauren Piper each have two.
 
Madison Linavong, who also has two goals, leads the country with seven assists this season. Her 11 points rank 18th among all Division II women's soccer players.
 
Zoe Ross, Lauren Hinnenkamp, Monika McGee and Kylee Wickersham have all scored once this season.
 
Central Oklahoma averages 2.6 goals per game and has allowed six goals in six games. The Bronchos outshoot their opponents 14.7-8.0 on average, with UCO putting 45 of 88 shots on goal this Fall. Opponents have put 29 of 48 shots on target.
 
Wickersham has been key in leading UCO's defense to a 1.0 goals allowed average. The sophomore defender has been stout on the back line in helping Central to a pair of shutouts this season.
 
Kassidy Collins has served a similar role on the back line. The duo has played more than 500 minutes each this season. Collins has played in 506 minutes of a possible 540 this season. Wickersham has played 502.
 
Central Oklahoma has utilized two goalkeepers this season. Avery Bass has three starts (270 minutes) and is 3-0-0. She's made 12 saves and has a 1.00 goals against average. Caroline Faulkner has three starts (225 minutes) and is 2-0-1. She has seven saves and a 0.80 GAA. Olivia Vigil played 45 minutes in a win over Newman and made three saves while allowing one goal.
 
Rogers State is 3-2-1 this season after three weeks of play. The Hillcats of Claremore, Okla. average 1.67 goals per game and allow just 0.67 per contest. Maggie Brown leads the team with three goals scored. Delana King and Hannah Schulze have both scored twice.
 
Tiffany Brittan has played four games in goal and is 3-0-1. She has not allowed a goal in 360 minutes. RSU is 3-0-1 with four shutouts in games Brittan stood in goal. Cambree Towle played all 180 minutes in the other two games, has 14 saves, has conceded four goals, and is 0-2-0.
 
Central Oklahoma will be done with non-conference contests following Friday night. The Bronchos host Northeastern State Sunday at 1 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field for NOKC Academy Day.
 
UCO has 11 MIAA games on the schedule. The Bronchos have qualified for every MIAA Postseason Tournament since joining the league 10 years ago. Central Oklahoma won the 2018 and 2019 postseason tournament championship.
