Ansley Scott's Provos Highlight Busy Weekend For Track Program

NORMAN, Okla. - Central Oklahoma freshman Ansley Scott registered not one, but two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks this weekend at the John Jacobs Invitational at OU.

Scott finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.75 seconds. Scott has improved her time in the 400 in each of the three events she's ran this season. She started the year off with a 58.88 at Oklahoma Baptist, then she logged a 57.73 at Friends University before Saturday's 55.75 at OU.

Saturday's time was 0.23 seconds in front of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark. It is also the 27th fastest time in the country this season and the fifth-best time in the MIAA in 2022.

Scott also ran the 200-meters in 24.35 seconds to finish seventh at OU on Saturday. That mark is 0.03 seconds in front of the provisional mark. It's the 35th fastest time in the country this season and the fourth-best mark in the MIAA.

Dahsauni Lyday also had a strong performance this weekend at OU. She got the meet started on Friday and by the end of the weekend, had set three new personal bests.

She finished seventh in the discus (44.65m), ninth in the shot put (13.98m) and 14th in the hammer (46.50m). All three are career bests.

Lyday's 13.98 in the shot put is 0.01 meters shy of a provisional mark. It is the second best throw in the MIAA this Spring and is top 30 in the country. She is also third in the MIAA in the discus with her 44.65-meter toss this weekend.

Central Oklahoma had one more top 10 performance in Norman. Kaleigh Dyas finished 10th in the 100 meters. She ran the race in 11.93 seconds.

After two days in Norman for the annual John Jacobs Invitational, one field athlete joined a trio of distance runners in Emporia, Kansas on Sunday for Emporia State's Midwest Classic. Central saw stellar results there.

Harlie Hanson finished second in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 18:30.01. She was joined in the event by Shiloh Hutchinson, who finished ninth with a time of 22:02.55.

Hutchinson also finished 11th in the 1,500 meters (5:34.04) where she was joined by Arizona Hummingbird. The senior finished third with a time of 4:54.64.

Hummingbird also ran the 800 and finished 12th with a time of 2:29.52.

Luz Lugo-Ponce joined the group and competed in the pole vault. She finished sixth in that event, clearing 2.75 meters. It was a season-best for Lugo-Ponce, who set a career mark at Emporia last Spring.
