UCO Men's Golf Earns Bid To NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 22) – Central Oklahoma received an at-large bid into the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships Friday, with the Bronchos set to participate in the Central/Midwest Regional Tournament.

That three-day, 54-hole event will be held May 5-7 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. It's the first time since 2018 that UCO has advanced to regional play.

"We're excited we get to continue our season," said first-year head coach Derrick Thompson. "We've been pretty consistent all year and have played better this spring, so I think our best is still ahead of us."

The Bronchos have finished in the top six in six of 11 tournaments this year, winning one title.

Teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Great American Conference, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will be represented in the Central/Midwest Regional.

Overall, 80 teams and 32 individual will participate in four regionals around the country. A minimum of three teams and two individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the Championship Finals, which are set for May 16-20 in Detroit, Mich.

Eight other team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region.
