UCO Wraps Up Sooner Invite

NORMAN, Okla. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up a two-day track meet Saturday with the Sooner Invitational at the University of Oklahoma.

Kayla South's fifth-place finish in the javelin throw topped the weekend for the Bronchos. The junior thrower from Pennsylvania finished fifth with a throw of 31.89 meters.

South also finished 14th in the discus (35.17m) and 15th in the hammer (35.57m) this weekend.

Central Oklahoma also finished sixth in the 4x100 relay. Ansley Scott, Kaleigh Dyas, Lydia Lawrence and Jasmine Hopkins finished in 50.54 seconds to earn the sixth-place finish.

Two more throwers also registered top-10 marks this weekend.

Dahsauni Lyday finished seventh in the hammer throw with a 46.30-meter mark. She also took 10th in the discus with a 41.34-meter chuck. Eve Brennan added a ninth-place finish in the hammer with a 42.23-meter heave.

Central Oklahoma set six season bests this weekend at OU.

Scott's 12.14 second time in the 100-meter dash prelims is the fastest time this season by any Broncho and the fastest time of Scott's first-year.

Arizona Hummingbird's 4:57.47 time in the 1,500 earned her a 14th place finish and Harlie Hanson (4:59.98) was close behind in 16th. The two marks represent the fastest times for any Broncho this season. Hanson's time is also a career best.

Jordan Chancellor finished 20th in the long jump on Saturday in Norman. She cleared 4.79 meters, which is both a personal best and the best mark of any Broncho this season.

Lyday's throws in the discus and the hammer are also top marks by a Broncho in 2022.

Central Oklahoma will return to Norman next weekend. The Bronchos are competing in the annual John Jacobs Invitational.
