Central Oklahoma No. 2 In ITA National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – Central Oklahoma moved up one spot in the national rankings this week with the Broncho tennis squad now ranked No. 2 in the country according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.

Central Oklahoma, 7-1 on the season, has four individuals listed in the ITA's Top 75 Singles rankings. The Bronchos have two doubles teams listed in the ITA's Top 50.
 
UCO's only loss this Spring came in the 2022 ITA Indoor National Championship to No. 1-ranked Barry. Of Central's seven wins this Spring, five have come against teams ranked in this week's poll.
 
Mae Canete is still No. 2 in the country in the Singles rankings. The sophomore, who was named MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week earlier this week, is 6-2 on the season. Her two losses have come against the No. 1 ranked Division II player and the No. 1 ranked JUCO player in the country.
 
Christine Canete is now No. 5 in the Singles rankings. She dipped from her previous spot at No. 4. Christine is 6-1 this season with her only loss a medical forfeit.
 
The Canete sisters, which won the ITA Doubles National Championship in the Fall, dropped one spot and are now ranked No. 2 in the county in the latest poll. The duo is 6-2 this season, including a loss to the new No. 1 doubles team in the country from Barry.  
 
Adel-Byanu Abidullina, 6-0 on the season, is now No. 13 in the country in the latest rankings. The unbeaten senior, who is a two-time MIAA Player of the Year, has fallen from fifth to 10th to 13th in the last three rankings to be released.
 
Grace Chadick is also checking in at No. 63 in the ITA's Top 75 Singles rankings. Chadick is 3-4 this season at No. 4 for the Bronchos.
 
Nikki Boyar and Blythe Buntrock join the Canetes in the national doubles rankings. The duo is No. 22 in the country in the latest poll and has a 5-2 record this Spring.
 
Central Oklahoma is off this week for Spring Break. The Bronchos are scheduled to open MIAA play next weekend with a home match against longtime rival Northeastern State.
