Central Oklahoma Going Back To National Tournament

UCO Selected As No. 7 Seed in NCAA Central Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in school history, it was announced Monday.

Central Oklahoma received an at-large to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship and will head to Bemidji, Minnesota for the first round later this week.

UCO was selected as the No. 7 seed in the Central Region and will play No. 2 Bemidji State on Friday.

Bemidji is also hosting No. 3 Minnesota State and No. 6 Northwest Missouri. Central Missouri is the No. 1 seed in the Central Region and will host No. 8 Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday, as well as No. 4 Emporia State and No. 5 Fort Hays State.

UCO posted an 11-4-4 overall record this season, with the Bronchos finishing fifth in the MIAA with a 6-3-2 record in league play. Central Oklahoma lost in the MIAA Championship Quarterfinals at Fort Hays State.

Central Oklahoma has made 14 national tournament appearances in 23 seasons since head coach Mike Cook started the program in 1998. This week will make 15 appearances in 24 seasons, and it will be the fourth consecutive national tournament for the Bronchos.

UCO is 8-10-4 in the NCAA Tournament. Central tied Bemidji State 0-0 in the first round of last season's NCAA Tournament. The Bronchos lost the penalty shootout in what is the only meeting ever between the two schools.

The winner of Friday afternoon's game will advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament and will play the winner of Minnesota State and Northwest Missouri on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Third- and Fourth Rounds of the tourney are scheduled for Nov. 18 & 20 at a site to be determined. The 2022 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship semifinals and final match are scheduled for Dec. 2 & 4 in Seattle.
