Bennett Baldwin Earns MIAA Award

Sophomore Standout Named MIAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma sophomore standout Bennett Baldwin was named MIAA Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Baldwin finished second at the Newman Invitational this week, posting an even-par 216 after three trips around Sand Creek Station's 7,012-yard trek.
 
Baldwin was consistent through three rounds. He posted a 1-under 71 on Monday's first round. The second round of the tournament started Monday and wrapped up Tuesday morning. Baldwin fired an even-par 72 in Round 2. Tuesday afternoon, he posted a 1-over-par 73 and earned a runner-up finish, just one stroke behind the eventual winner.
 
Baldwin played all par-4s 2-under for the tournament, which was the best mark for any golfer in the field. The sophomore from Stillwater, Oklahoma also sank 12 birdies in the tournament, two more than any other golfer in the field. He also had 33 pars in the tournament.
 
Baldwin has competed in all four tournaments for the Bronchos this Fall and has a team-low 73.3 scoring average. He's shot between 71-77 in 11 rounds of play, with two rounds of even par and two rounds below par.
 
Central Oklahoma will wrap up its Fall competition next week with The Tulsa Cup. Rogers State is hosting the event at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow.
