Central Earns Team Ethics And Sportsmanship Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches when the organization announced its 2021 Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.

Central Oklahoma earned the Silver Award this season for its work on the field. The Platinum Award goes to teams that complete a season with no yellow or red cards. The Gold Award goes to squads that have a percentage of cards ranging from 1-10 percent. Silver is 11-30 percent while Bronze is 31-50 percent.

Central had just six yellow cards in 23 games this season, a 28 percent mark. UCO had no red cards issued.

Central Oklahoma went 13-5-3 in 2021, earning not only another trip to the MIAA postseason tournament, but also a 14th national tournament appearance. The Bronchos reached the MIAA Championship Semifinals before going to nationals. UCO lost in the first round on a penalty shootout.
