Lyday Leads Bronchos With Another Provisional Mark

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Dahsauni Lyday hurled an NCAA provisional qualifying mark for the second week in a row Saturday, leading a dozen Bronchos in the Wendy's Pittsburg State Invitational.

Lyday, who threw 13.71 meters last week in Norman, threw 13.70 meters Saturday in Pittsburg. The NCAA provisional qualifying mark is 13.70 meters. Her 13.71-meter toss last week is tied for the 25th-best throw in the country this season.
 
"Dahsauni is getting better every time she goes out," UCO head women's track & field coach Dr. Martha Brennan said. "She works really hard and for her to get a provisional both last weekend and today is a great sign of things to come for her."
 
Lyday also finished sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.27 meters. Eve Brennan and Tatum Robertson both threw alongside Lyday. Brennan finished 18th in the weight throw (12.22m) and Robertson finished 20th (12.11m). Brennan finished 20th in the shot put (10.80m) and Robertson finished 21st (10.74m).
 
Cali Dorman raced to a 32nd-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.09 seconds. She also ran the 600-yard race and finished 17th in that event with a time of 1:35.16. Jordan Chancellor joined her in the latter and finished 23rd with a time of 1:40.47.
 
Kaleigh Dyas had a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter dash during qualifying, crossing the finish line in 7.95 seconds. That advanced her to the prelims where she finished 26th with a time of 7.89 seconds.
 
Four Bronchos participated in the 200-meter race. Ansley Scott led the group with an eighth-place finish, crossing the finish line in 25.63 seconds. Jasmine Hopkins finished 33rd (26.79), Dyas finished 38th (27.11), and Jacie Edwards finished 51st (28.55).
 
Scott led another quartet in the 400 meters and earned another top 10 in the event. She finished 10th with a time of 57.98 seconds. Hopkins also ran in the 400 and finished 32nd with a time of 1:03.79. Edwards finished 38th with a time of 1:06.94. And Lydia Lawrence finished 42nd with a time of 1:07.57.
 
UCO's distance crew also competed in Pittsburg on Saturday. Bethany Garrison finished 23rd in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:31.57. Arizona Hummingbird finished 10th in the 1-mile race, clocking a 5:14.61. Shiloh Hutchinson also ran and finished 26th at 5:52.58. Hutchinson also ran the 3,000 meters and finished 32nd in that event with a time of 11:40.76. Harlie Hanson rounded out the group in the 5,000 meters and finished fourth with a time of 18:12.88.
