Central Oklahoma Hosts Oklahoma Christian

Bronchos Continue Early Season Homestand Thursday Night

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's soccer team continues an early season homestand Thursday when the Bronchos take on Oklahoma Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
 
Central Oklahoma has a 1-1 overall record after the first week of the 2021 season. The Bronchos dropped a 2-1 contest at Dallas Baptist, a squad which is now ranked second in the country, before rebounding with a win in this past Saturday's home opener, 1-0 over Midwestern State.
 
Oklahoma Christian is making its 2021 season debut.
 
For Central, senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Asher has played all 180 minutes in the net and has made 10 saves, five each in the first two games. Central Oklahoma held Dallas Baptist scoreless for nearly 85 minutes in last Thursday's opener before keeping Midwestern State off the scoreboard altogether.
 
UCO is averaging one goal per game after a week of play. Eden Jones scored the lone goal in the season opener at DBU and did so in the fourth minute of the match. Kassidy Collins had the game-winning goal against Midwestern State in the 79th minute Saturday.
 
Central is averaging 13 shots per game and has a near 50 percent shots on goal percentage.
 
UCO has an 11-0 all-time record against Oklahoma Christian. The Bronchos have outscored OC a combined 36-5 in those 11 meetings, including posting eight shutouts.
 
Central Oklahoma will continue a four-game homestand Saturday when the Bronchos host Oklahoma Baptist. Kickoff for this weekend's contest is also scheduled for 7 p.m.
