Central Oklahoma Continues Road Trip North

Bronchos To Play Fourth & Fifth Consecutive Road Games This Weekend

HAYS, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team continues an early season road trip this weekend when the Bronchos take on Fort Hays State Friday at 7 p.m. UCO will continue on to Nebraska Kearney for a Sunday afternoon affair.
 
This weekend's games will wrap up a five-game road trip for the Bronchos. UCO is 2-0-1 during that stretch so far. Central Oklahoma has a 5-2-1 overall record this season and is 1-0-0 in MIAA play. Fort Hays State is 3-2-3 overall and 0-1-0 in the MIAA. Sunday's opponent, Nebraska Kearney, is 1-7-0.
 
"It'll be a tough weekend," UCO associate head soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "Fort Hays State is a really tough team. They're very organized defensively and it's hard to play at their place. It's always hard to win on the road. We need to be focused and we need to be locked in on executing our gameplan."
 
Central is averaging 2.38 goals per game this season, having netted 19 goals this fall. The Bronchos have taken 139 shots in eight games (17.4 per game) and have put 79 of 139 shots on goal.
 
UCO is among the best in the league offensively. Central's 19 goals scored is tied for second. Its 139 total shots are the third most in the MIAA. And its 79 shots on goal are the most of any MIAA school.
 
Monika McGee and Kassidy Collins are both tied for the lead on the UCO roster in goals scored. Both have netted five shots this fall.
 
Collins has a team-high five goals, two assists, 12 points, 23 shots, and 14 shots on goal. McGee is tied for a team-high five goals and is second in points, 10, shots, 22, and is third in shots on goal with 12.
 
Eden Jones adds four goals scored and has done that with just eight total shots this fall. Taryn Kedzior also has two goals scored and one assist. She is third in total shots with 19 and second in shots on goal with 13.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma is allowing just 1.25 goals per game, which is tied with two other squads for the fifth-fewest in the MIAA.
 
Kaitlyn Asher has played in goal in seven games for the Bronchos this fall. The Bixby, Oklahoma native has allowed six goals in 494-plus minutes of action this season. Asher has 12 saves and has also posted two shutouts.
 
Caroline Faulkner and Olivia Vigil have both played in two games this season and both have allowed two goals. Vigil has 10 saves while Faulkner has eight.
 
Fort Hays State welcomes UCO to Kansas averaging 1.25 goals per game this season. The Tigers have scored 10 goals in eight games. Fort Hays does boast the best defense in the MIAA, allowing only four goals in eight games.
 
Central Oklahoma will travel to Nebraska Kearney for Sunday's MIAA contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. The Bronchos will then return home for a four-game homestand, beginning with an MIAA tilt with Missouri Southern Friday, Oct. 8 at Tom Thompson Field.
