Emma Shelley Finishes Second At Inaugural OGA Event

OKLAHOMA CITY – A pair of University of Central Oklahoma women's golfers competed in the inaugural Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Lincoln Park Golf Course this week.

Emma Shelley, a sophomore from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, finished tied for second after two trips around Lincoln West. Shelley was in a three-way tie for first after 36 holes but lost the first playoff to Madison Smith (Moore).
 
Shelley posted the only under-par round Monday, shooting a 4-under 68. She followed that with a 76 Tuesday to finish 2-over 144. She also tied for first with six birdies after 36 holes and had 22 pars.
 
Emily Miller, a sophomore from Edmond, Oklahoma, also competed in the inaugural event open to Oklahoma residents and any player playing for a college/university in Oklahoma. Miller posted an 80 Monday and an 85 Tuesday to finish tied for 19th with a 165.
 
Shelley, Miller, and Central Oklahoma, which won the 2021 MIAA Championship, opens the 2021-22 season Sept. 20 with the Dallas Baptist Classic in Denton, Texas.
