Soccer Opens Spring Season At OU

Bronchos Visit Sooners In Friday Night Exhibition

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team will open its spring 2021 schedule Friday with an exhibition match against Oklahoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
Central will play its first game this spring after having one postponed last week due to weather. That of course after UCO had its fall season suspended. The MIAA has structured a spring schedule with each team playing six league games before a postseason tournament in April.
 
UCO has four non-conference matches plus its six MIAA games after the Oklahoma exhibition.
 
Central had a veteran squad coming into the fall. The Bronchos have six seniors and six juniors on the roster – most of which have been part of the past two MIAA Championships (2018, 2019).
 
Senior forward Kelsie Eason headlines the bunch as a two-time All-American. Eason has 31 career goals, 25 career assists, and 87 career points and ranks in the top 10 in school history in all three categories.
 
Senior defender Meredith Wilson has played in 60 career games and has helped Central to a top defense over the past three years. In the past two seasons, UCO only allows 0.8 goals per game (40 goals in 46 games).
 
Junior defender Taryn Kedzior also brings a stout resume into this spring season. The outside back is a two-time All-MIAA selection and also earned All-Region accolades in 2018.
 
UCO will also get its freshman class on the field this spring. A group that missed its senior year of high school soccer and the fall season of college soccer will take the field 10-deep this spring for the Bronchos.
 
Central Oklahoma is also scheduled to play at Midwestern State Sunday afternoon. The Bronchos are scheduled to host Oklahoma Christian next Saturday in the first of seven home games this spring for UCO.
