Kyle Hickey Named MIAA Golfer of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced Wednesday its Men's Golf Athlete of the Week and University of Central Oklahoma junior Kyle Hickey earned the honor.

A junior from Rochester, Minnesota, Hickey won his first collegiate tournament this past weekend in Hays, Kansas. He led Central with a 54-hole 213 to win the Fort Hays State Tiger Classic, taking the individual title by one shot.

Hickey posted rounds of 71 and 73 on Monday before registering a 1-under 69 in Tuesday's final round to take the title. He sank two birdies in each of the first two rounds Monday before holing four of them Tuesday in finishing off the win.

Hickey transferred to Central Oklahoma this fall from Iowa Western, following new head men's golf coach Derrick Thompson. He played in three out of five tournaments for the Bronchos this fall and has finished second and first in the last two weeks.

Central Oklahoma has finished eighth, first, and third in tournaments Hickey played.
