Bronchos Travel To No. 4 Central Missouri

Central Oklahoma continues its rugged Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schedule Thursday with a trip to Warrensburg, Mo. for a 5 p.m. match against No. 4-ranked Central Missouri.

The Bronchos are 14-4 on the season and fourth in the league standings at 7-3. The Jennies are 14-2 overall and second in the conference at 7-1. Top-ranked Washburn leads the MIAA, while two other teams are also ranked in the top 15 nationally -- No. 9 Northwest Missouri and No. 15 Nebraska-Kearney.

"Our conference is probably the best in the country, so every match is a challenge," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "We know what kind of team Central Missouri has and we will have to play our best, but our girls are looking forward to the opportunity."

UCO swept Newman Tuesday night in its last outing. The Bronchos are led by Courtney Lane (219 kills, 173 digs), Jenna Karp (148 kills, 69 blocks) and Lauren Jenkins (146 kills)..

Central Missouri has won four straight since falling to Washburn. The Jennies are paced by Kersti Nix (172 kills), Audrey Fisher (171 kills) and Hannah Engelken (144 kills, 62 blocks).

UCM has a 17-4 lead in the series and has won the last three meetings between the two.

The Bronchos will be in action against next Tuesday, Oct. 19, with a 6 p.m. home match against Pittsburg State.
