Know The 'Chos: Kelsie Eason

The University of Central Oklahoma athletic department is showcasing its student-athletes each Monday this fall with a quick glance at who your favorite Bronchos are on and off the field in a segment called Know The 'Chos.

Up first, a soccer player with a long list of accomplishments and a noted reputation on the field. She holds a distinct honor as the only soccer player in school history to achieve a special status.

Central Oklahoma has put a soccer team on the field for 22 seasons and a look through the history and record books finds a dozen or more references to this standout student-athlete.

She's led her team to more than one championship as well as on the national stage. And she's been an exemplary student all the while as evident by her presence on the honor roll each and every year she's been a Broncho.

Here's the file.

Name: Kelsie Eason

Sport: Soccer

Class: Senior

Major: Kinesiology – Exercise/Fitness Management

Favorite memory at Central: Last year's conference tournament semifinals when we beat the No. 1 seed of the tournament, Central Missouri, to move on to the championship game. We were able to overcome the challenge of playing them on their home field and snapped their at-home winning streak, which was 54 games. We then went on to win the conference championship.

More about this student-athlete: Kelsie is a senior midfielder and the only two-time All-American in Central's storied soccer history. She made her presence known as a freshman and solidified her position as a top talent not only in the rugged MIAA but also in the entire country and has continued a rising trend since stepping on the field in 2017.

Kelsie is mentioned on four single season top 10 lists at UCO for points, goals, assists, and shots. She ranks eighth in school history on three career lists (points 87, goals 31, and shots 190) and ranks fourth in UCO history in career assists (25).

Kelsie Is a three-time First Team All-MIAA selection and was named All-American in both 2018 and 2019.

She helped the Bronchos to the MIAA Championship in both 2018 and 2019, winning both the regular season and the postseason tournament titles in 2018 and the tournament title again in 2019. Kelsie has led the team to the NCAA Division II national tournament in both of those two seasons as well and helped the Bronchos to the "Sweet 16" her sophomore season, when the Bronchos finished 22-2 in what is arguably the best season in school history.
