Soccer Announces 2020 Schedule

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team announced its 2020 schedule Monday, with the Bronchos slated to play 13 games this fall, including seven at Tom Thompson Field.

Central will open the 2020 season, its 23rd season in school history, with a home match against rival Northeastern State on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. The Bronchos take on their longtime intrastate foe in what is a rematch of last year's MIAA Championship game. UCO won that in a shootout to claim its second consecutive league title.

The opener is a non-conference match, as is the trip to Newman in Wichita, Kan. on Sept. 18. Beginning, Sept. 25, Central will open its 11-game MIAA schedule with a home contest against Rogers State.

Following contests at Northeastern State, Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney, Central will see a four-game homestand in the middle of the season, hosting Missouri Southern, Central Missouri, Emporia State, and Washburn in October.

Following another road trip to Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western, the Bronchos end the season with a home match against Newman on Oct. 30.

The NCAA announced this summer a reduction in the maximum number of allowable contests, dropping the number from 18 to 14. The MIAA then announced a 13-game schedule for its members, with a flex week added for November 8. That weekend will serve as both the 14th game and the first round of the MIAA Tournament.

The 2020 MIAA Championship is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15. UCO won the title in Edmond in 2018 before taking the crown in Warrensburg, Mo. in 2019.

The 2020 NCAA Tournament is scheduled to begin Nov. 20 and conclude with the Division II national championship on Dec. 12.
