Five Rowers Recognized With CRCA All-American Nomination

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced this week five student-athletes from the University of Central Oklahoma as 2020 All-American nominees.

Madisyn Kitchell, Cameron Blunk, Shelby Wackerly, Eileen Anderson, and Megan Dwarshuis were each listed.

From the CRCA: The absence of competitive results or a national championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic preclude awarding First and Second Team All-America awards for the 2020 season. However, the coaches of the CRCA still wanted to find a way to recognize the top performers in NCAA women's rowing. For 2020, Division I and II coaches were allowed to nominate up to four student athletes and one coxswain, and Division III coaches up to two rowers and one coxswain. While these people will not technically be named All-Americans, we congratulate them on earning the nomination from their program.

Four of the Bronchos – Anderson, Dwarshuis, Kitchell, and Wackerly – were All-Americans in 2019, having led Central to its second consecutive team national championship, third consecutive Varsity 8+ national title, and its first-ever Varsity 4+ crown. Dwarshuis was also an All-American in 2018 while Anderson was also an All-American in 2017.

Central Oklahoma has Varsity 8+ national titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019, Varsity 4+ national title in 2019, and has won the NCAA Division II team national championship in 2018 and 2019. The Bronchos have been the No. 1 ranked team in the country for over two years and were preparing the push for a third straight title before the global health pandemic shut down the 2020 season in March.
