Bailee Thomas Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Award

Multi-Sport Standout Moves On To All-American Ballot

The Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday its 2019-20 Academic All-District At Large Teams and University of Central Oklahoma multi-sport standout Bailee Thomas was named to the list.

Thomas is a two-time national champion member of the Central rowing team. She was an alternate on the 2018 team that won at all and in 2019, won the team title again with the Bronchos and earned an individual national title for rowing in the Varsity 8+ boat that won it all. Thomas was expected to lead UCO in contention for a third straight title this spring before the cancellation of sports.

Thomas, from Wagoner, Okla., graduated this spring. She majored in Forensic Science and Psychology and also earned a minor in Sociology. Thomas carried a 4.0 grade point average through it all.

Thomas earned three letters in rowing, but she also lettered in track & field for the Bronchos. Originally a member of the UCO track & field team, Thomas competed as a freshman and sophomore for both Indoor and Outdoor seasons. She returned to the track & field team this past season as well. She helped the Bronchos set a school record during a first-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay this past February during an Indoor meet in Norman.

Thomas wrapped up her career with 25 top-10 finishes in both Indoor and Outdoor track & field and also had three victories to her credit.

The CoSIDA Academic All-American program recognizes the best student-athletes in the country. Voted on by members of CoSIDA from all over the country, the honors go to student-athletes that excel on their respective field of play as well as in the classroom. A 3.30 GPA is required for nomination. The average for Thomas' district team was 3.96.

CoSIDA selects All-District teams before moving those recipients on to the All-American ballot, which will be announced in June.
