POWERED BY EDMOND ELECTRIC
David Factor came to Central Oklahoma's powerhouse men's basketball program in 1995 and it didn't take long for the 6-foot point guard from Edmond North High School to assume a starting role, one that he would hold throughout his four-year career with the Bronchos.
A superb floor general with great court vision, Factor helped lead UCO to 84 wins, two Lone Star Conference championships and two NCAA Division II tournament appearances while playing in 117 games with 107 starts.
David averaged 7.0 points, 4.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game as a true freshman in 1995-96 when the Bronchos finished 19-10 and just missed a national tournament berth. He came back the next year to average 7.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals as Central went 24-5 in winning the LSC regular-season and tournament titles before falling in the semifinals of the South Central Regional.
Factor continued to orchestrate UCO's high-octane offensive attack as a junior in 1997-98, netting 8.9 points, 4.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game. The Bronchos finished 25-7, winning the regular-season and tournament league championships for the second straight year and advancing to the Sweet 16 before losing a heartbreaking 105-101 decision to West Texas A&M in the South Central Regional finals.
David averaged career highs in points (11.0), assists (5.1), rebounds (5.0) and steals (2.1) during his senior campaign, when UCO finished 16-11. He ended his career as the school's all-time leader in assists (539) and steals (208), records that still stand.
In this week's installment of our look back at some of Central's past athletic greats, here's a brief conversation with David Factor.

If you could give advice to a current student-athlete at UCO, what would it be:Â Enjoy the challenge.
