Bronchos Bounce All Competition At UCO Invite

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team put on a dominating performance this weekend at the UCO Invite at Broncho Courts, with Central going a combined 26-3 over the weekend in taking titles in almost every draw.

Central Oklahoma's three losses on the weekend come with a key note: The Bronchos didn't lose a completed match to anyone not from UCO.

"We fought really hard this weekend," fourth-year head coach Jaron Maestas said. "I'm really proud of them for how hard they're working this early in the season. And to not lose to anyone else was big. We won the weekend."

Central won a pair of All-UCO finals, which accounted for two of the Bronchos' three losses. Central also defaulted out of one other match.

But by Sunday afternoon, Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Isabella Dunlap and Paola Landin and Mariona Franco Martin and Patricia Gribi and Lexi Penn all had undefeated records for the tournament. Nikki Boyar and Lotte Lesscher Y Post each went 2-1 in falling in the finals of their respective draws to their teammates.

UCO also won both doubles draws. Boyar and Landin went 3-0 for the A Draw title and Franco Martin and Lesscher Y Post also went 3-0 for the B Draw title.

Central Oklahoma put together a 19-2 mark in singles play this weekend, going 7-1 in doubles competition. The Bronchos in two tournaments this fall have a 35-9 combined singles record to go with a 17-2 combined doubles record.

UCO heads to Wyoming next weekend for the Wyoming Invite, where it looks to keep the hot start rolling.
