No. 10 Central Oklahoma Hosts Oklahoma Christian

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team continues a season-opening homestand Friday when the 10th-ranked Bronchos take on Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.

Central Oklahoma is 1-0-1 on the season. The Bronchos beat Southern Nazarene 6-2 on Monday following a 3-3 draw against 17th-ranked Dallas Baptist in the season opener. Oklahoma Christian is 0-3 on the season with losses to Northwestern, Southwestern, and East Central.

UCO's nine goals through the first two games of the season is the third-most in school history for a two-game start. The Bronchos notched 11 goals through two games in 2001 and put 10 shots in the net through the first two games of 2007.

Asha Haile, a senior forward from Norman, Okla., is the top goal scorer for Central. She's scored four goals in two games, putting together her first career hat trick Thursday against Dallas Baptist. She scored once against SNU and added an assist. Her nine points in two games leads the team.

Kelsie Eason adds two goals the Broncho tally this season. The junior midfielder/forward hybrid only played one half of the Southern Nazarene match and was electric. Eason took two shots, both on target, to get her two goals. She also had an assist.

Katie Gasaway, Eden Jones, and Haley Post each have one goal on the season. Post's two assists lead the team.

UCO has used two goalkeepers in two games. Kaitlyn Asher played a full 110 minutes in the 3-3 draw against DBU. She made three saves in that game. Bailey Ledbetter played a full 90 minutes against SNU and made two saves.

Oklahoma Christian, winless in three contests, has been shutout in each of those matches. NWOSU and SWOSU both beat OC 3-0, while ECU won 1-0.

The Eagles of Oklahoma City have taken 31 shots in three games, with nine on target. OC goalkeeper Gabby Goddard has played all 270 minutes in goal so far this season. She's made 13 saves on 39 shots faced.

Central Oklahoma owns a 10-0 all-time record against Oklahoma Christian. The Bronchos have won those contests by a combined 31-3 and have posted seven shutouts in the 10 meetings.
