Central Oklahoma Earns Top Seed In Central Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Central Oklahoma earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Region I Tournament it was announced Tuesday night, and with that the Bronchos will host the first and second rounds of the postseason tournament for the second consecutive season.
 
"We're glad to be hosting," UCO head coach Jaron Maestas said. "Part of our goal includes being in a position to play at home in the postseason and now we get to do that. Now we need to continue to work hard and keep moving forward."
 
Central Oklahoma will host half of the six-team Central Regional in Edmond at Broncho Courts Monday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 14. The four- and five-seeds will play a first-round matchup on Monday, with UCO taking on the winner Tuesday.
 
Southern Arkansas and Southwest Baptist also earned postseason berths and will visit Edmond next week. SAU is the Central Region's No. 4 seed while SBU is the No. 5 seed.
 
Central Oklahoma has an 18-4 overall record this season and finished the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schedule with a 9-1 record. After earning the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Tournament, the Bronchos reeled off three wins in as many days in Oklahoma City last weekend to win their first MIAA Championship since joining the league seven years ago.
 
UCO earned the No. 2 seed in the Central Regional and hosted the first two rounds last season. The Bronchos advanced out of regional play and then went on to find a route to the NCAA DII Women's Tennis national quarterfinals.
