Bronchos Aim For Return To NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Central Region rankings, released Wednesday.

UCO is 16-3 on the season and the Bronchos just wrapped up the regular season with the MIAA title. UCO earned the No. 1 seed in this weekend's MIAA Women's Tennis Championship in Springfield, Missouri.

The NCAA will announce May 4 the 48-team field for the Division II Women's Tennis Championship with eight regionals. Each region will have two sub-regionals played May 8-9 with 16 teams advancing to the national finals May 19-23 in Surprise, Arizona.

The Central Region is made up of 26 teams from the MIAA (10), the Great American Conference (six), and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (10). Each conference's postseason tournament champion will receive an automatic bid and three more at-large bids will be given to the highest ranked teams in the region.

UCO received a first-round bye in the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship and waits in the semifinals for the winner of Missouri Western and Northeastern State. Those two play Friday afternoon. UCO plays the winner on Saturday morning. The championship match is Sunday morning.
