UCO Washburn Part III Saturday In Edmond

Bronchos Hosting NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship Central Regional At Edmond Center Court

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma and Washburn will meet for the third time this season as the MIAA rivals face off in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Saturday at 10 a.m. at Edmond Center Court.

The two met in Edmond during the regular season and the Bronchos won the MIAA dual 4-3. They met again last week in the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship final and UCO won again, this time 4-0.

Washburn (19-4) beat Arkansas Tech 4-0 on Friday morning in the opening round of the national tournament. The Bronchos are hosting one of two Central Region tournaments with the winners advancing to Surprise, Arizona and the national Round of 16 next week.

UCO is 18-3 as it continues its postseason trek this weekend in Edmond. The Bronchos will rely on scoring an early point with their doubles play, which has been historically great in 2026.

As a team, UCO is 51-8 in doubles competition this season, including a perfect 27-0 in the MIAA this year. Central went 4-0 in two MIAA Women's Tennis Championship matches last week.

Mei Hasegawa and Pete Komada are ranked No. 7 in the country in the latest ITA Doubles Top 50. The duo is 18-2 on the season and has won 12 straight. Anika Ouwejan and Ayaka Koga are 17-1 at No. 2 doubles and have won 13 in a row. Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo are 12-1 with 10 straight wins at No. 3 doubles.

Hasegawa leads singles play too. The sophomore newcomer is 18-1 on the year and ranked No. 20 in the ITA Singles Top 75. Komada, a senior All-American spending much of this year nationally ranked, is 16-3 on the season.

Ouwejan has an 11-7 record at No. 3 singles and Yurchenko is 9-2 at No. 4 singles. Yurchenko also has a 5-0 record at No. 5 singles. UCO has shuffled the 4-5 spots this season. Koga (4-6) and Dilay Ata (5-6) have split time at both spots. Soo is 9-4 at No. 6 singles.
