UCO Returns To NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Central Oklahoma rowing team has officially claimed a spot in the NCAA National Championships later this month, it was announced Monday.

The Bronchos, ranked No. 1 in the country for nearly two straight seasons, will head to Indianapolis for the 2019 NCAA Women's Rowing National Championships beginning May 31 and running through June 2. UCO is the defending national champs heading into this season's finals.
 
Six teams were announced Monday as national qualifiers. UC San Diego, Florida Tech, Seattle Pacific, Thomas Jefferson University, and Western Washington will join the Bronchos.
 
Central Oklahoma, as the top team in the country, earned prime lane assignments for this year's championships. UCO will begin the finals with heat racing on Friday. UCO is in lane three for both its Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ preliminary races. UCO will see Jefferson and SPU in the V8+ Heat 1. The Bronchos will race Jefferson and Western Washington in the V4+ Heat 1.
 
Winners from Friday's prelims will advance to Sunday's Grand Finals. A consolation round of racing will take place Saturday.
 
Central Oklahoma won the 2018 national championship for the first time in school history. UCO's V8+ boat has won gold at the national championships in each of the past two seasons.
