Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the most recent Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll and is welcoming a slew of other nationally-ranked teams to Oklahoma City.

Western Washington (third), UC San Diego (fourth), Humboldt State (fifth), Nova Southeastern (eighth), Jefferson (ninth), and Rollins (10th) will all descend upon OKC Friday night for what is set to be the biggest race in UCO rowing history.

The Bronchos will also be joined by Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma this weekend.

Racing begins at 5:50 p.m. Friday with a 2,000-meter open-4 and will continue through 7 p.m. with a men's 4, two heats of women's Varsity 4 and Varsity 8, another men's 4 and finally a 2V8.

After a short break, the 500-meter night sprints will get underway at 8 p.m. The showcase event will conclude Friday night's action at approximately 8:40 p.m. All seven Division II schools will compete in a 500-meter Varsity 8 race to conclude the night's activities.

Racing is scheduled to continue Saturday on the Oklahoma River. Teams will begin 2,000-meter racing at 8 a.m. Races will run through 11 a.m.

Central Oklahoma enters the weekend as the defending NCAA Division II national champions. The Bronchos captured their first national title in school history last spring following a dominant season on the water.

UCO fared well in head racing this fall, and last week, competed in Spring Training in Gainesville, Fla. with more success.

The Bronchos' Varsity 8 boat has won gold at each of the past two national championships.
