Central Welcomes Harding To Hamilton

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma women's basketball team wraps up a four-game homestand Tuesday when the Bronchos host Harding (Ark.) at 5:30 p.m. in Hamilton Field House.

Central Oklahoma is 4-1 on the season and coming off a win over Cameron this past Saturday. Harding is 3-2 on the season and looking to snap a two-game slide after dropping a pair of Great American Conference games against Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas this past weekend.

UCO enters the game averaging 86.2 points per game through the first five games of the season. The Bronchos scored 80, 84, and 84 in three wins to start the year before scoring 76 in their lone loss. UCO scored a Hamilton Field House record 107 Saturday.

Four players averaging double figures leads that offensive charge. Micayla Haynes and Jaci Littell both average 12.2 points per game, Kelsey Johnson is averaging 11.6 per game, and Brooke Rayner is averaging 10.5 points per game. Shatoya Bryson (8.0) and Kaci Richardson (7.6) aren't far off of a double-digit scoring average either.

Haynes is the team's leading scorer from last season and an All-MIAA selection. The senior point guard is second on the team with 22 made field goals, second on the team with nine made 3-pointers, and second on the team with eight made free-throws. She has a team-high 17 assists.

Littell, a true freshman playing a team-high 25 minutes per game this season, is averaging 12.2 points per game behind another team-high 11 made 3-pointers. The Stillwater, Okla. native is shooting 47.9 percent from the floor (23-for-48) and 45.8 percent (11-for-24) from outside. Littell is also averaging six rebounds per game.

Johnson had her best performance of the young season Saturday. The junior forward went for 19 points, five rebounds, and five blocked shots. She's averaging 11.6 points per game, a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game, and is shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor. Johnson has made 22 of 38 attempts this season, 57.9 percent, and is a perfect 4-for-4 from outside. She is a team-best 10-for-11 from the charity stripe as well.

Rayner's 10.4 points per game is the best mark of any player off the bench this season. The sophomore point guard spells Haynes in the lineup and has had a big impact with the second unit this season. Rayner is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor and has made seven 3-pointers in five games. She also has 16 assists, one behind Haynes.

Harding is led by Kellie Lampo, who scores 18.2 points per game and averages 10 rebounds per game. She's making 59.6 percent of her shots this season and already has 28 made free-throws in five games. Carissa Caples is second on the team averaging 11 points per game and has a team-high 10 made threes.

As a team, Harding is averaging 74 points per game and allowing 67.

Central Oklahoma and Harding are tied 3-3 in the all-time series. UCO head coach Guy Hardaker has never faced Harding. The last time the two schools met was in the 1999-2000 season.
