Central Oklahoma Hosts Evangel

Bronchos Return To Hamilton

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returns to Hamilton Field House for a non-conference game against Evangel (Mo.) Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
The Bronchos are 1-7 on the season and breaking from MIAA play after an 0-3 start in three league road games. Evangel is 10-1 this season. The NAIA program from Springfield, Missouri also has a loss to UCO's MIAA rival Central Missouri. 
 
UCO enters this week's only game averaging 58.9 points per game. The Bronchos shoot 35.5 percent from the floor and 24.8 percent from behind the 3-point line making on average 4.1 3-pointers per game. UCO also shoots 62.2 percent from the free-throw line and averages 10.5 made free-throws per game. The Bronchos outrebound opponents 40.8 – 39.5 on average.
 
After a season-high 25 points last week, Nykaiya Dillard is Central Oklahoma's leading scorer. She averages 14.0 points per game. The freshman guard has come off the bench in all eight games and is second on the team with 39 made buckets. She leads the team with 30 made free-throws and has a team-high 44 attempts at the line.

Kaitlyn McCarn has been Central Oklahoma's leading scorer and is a close second now at 13.6 points per game. The sophomore guard has a team-high 43 made field goals this season and leads the team with six made 3-pointers. She shoots 42.2 percent overall, 33.3 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 73.9 percent (17-for-23) from the free-throw line.
  
Jerney Bennett averages 6.5 points and leads the Bronchos in rebounding at 8.9 per game, which also ranks third in the MIAA. She also leads the Bronchos in blocked shots (30) and her 3.8 blocks per game average ranks first in the MIAA and third in Division II.
 
McCarn, Dillard, and Bennett combine to average 4.1 steals per game.
 
Bobbie Fouquet and Olivia Quapaw both average 5.6 and 5.5 points per game respectively. Peyton Walker (3.9) and Talia Pogi (3.4) are also contributors on offense. Pogi is tied with McCarn for the team lead in made 3-pointers (six) and Fouquet and Quapaw have both made five from deep.
 
Evangel averages 95.6 points per game through 11 games played this season. The Valor shoot 49.1 percent overall and 39.1 percent from behind the arc, averaging 8.8 made 3-pointers per game. Four players average double figures.
 
Central Oklahoma will go back on the road for two more non-conference games at St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas and at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas. The final non-conference game of the season is scheduled for Dec. 30 in Edmond against McPherson (Kan.).
