Central Oklahoma Visits Rogers State Thursday Night

Bronchos Take On Hillcats In MIAA Road Game

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma continues a three-game road trip Thursday with an MIAA matchup at Rogers State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the Claremore Expo Center.
 
The Bronchos are 1-6 this season and 0-2 in the MIAA. Central opened the season with five non-conference games in November and earned its lone win in between four losses. UCO opened MIAA play last weekend with losses at Pittsburg State and at Missouri Southern.
 
Rogers State is 2-7 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Hillcats also lost at MSSU and Pitt State this past weekend. RSU lost its first three before beating Ozark Christian and Regis and has lost four in row since.
 
UCO enters this week's only game averaging 58.3 points per game. The Bronchos shoot 35.2 percent from the floor and 26.1 percent from behind the 3-point line making on average 4.4 3-pointers per game. UCO also shoots 61.2 percent from the free-throw line and averages 10.1 made free-throws per game. The Bronchos outrebound opponents 41.4 – 40.1 on average.
 
Kaitlyn McCarn is Central Oklahoma's leading scorer at 13.6 points per game. The sophomore guard has a team-high 37 made field goals this season and leads the team with six made 3-pointers. She shoots 42.0 percent overall, 40.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 71.4 percent (15-for-21) from the free-throw line.
 
Nykaiya Dillard also averages double figures at 12.4 points per game. The freshman guard has come off the bench in all seven games and is second on the team with 30 made buckets. She leads the team with 24 made free-throws and has a team-high 37 attempts at the line.
 
Jerney Bennett averages 6.0 points and leads the Bronchos in rebounding at 8.4 per game, which also ranks fourth in the MIAA. She also leads the Bronchos in blocked shots (25) and her 3.6 blocks per game average ranks first in the MIAA and fourth in Division II.
 
McCarn, Dillard, and Bennett combine to average 4.1 steals per game.
 
Bobbie Fouquet and Olivia Quapaw both average 5.7 points per game. Peyton Walker (4.4) and Talia Pogi (4.0) are also contributors on offense. Pogi is tied with McCarn for the team lead in made 3-pointers (six) and Fouquet and Quapaw have both made five from deep.
 
Rogers State averages 59.4 points per game through nine contests this season. The Hillcats shoot 36.2 percent as a team, 22.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 69.1 percent from the free-throw line. Ataya Casaus leads RSU with 9.7 points per game. Samantha Shanks averages 6.8 points per game and leads the team with 5.4 rebounds per game.
 
Central Oklahoma and Rogers State have only played 12 times and all have come since RSU joined the MIAA before the 2019-20 season. UCO has won all 12 meetings, six in Claremore and six in Edmond.
 
Central Oklahoma will return to Hamilton Field House next week to take on Evangel (Mo.) Tuesday, Dec. 16. The Bronchos will go back on the road after that with two more non-conference games at St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas and at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas.
