UCO Competes At Tulsa Invite

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma rowing team hit the water for the final time this fall Saturday and took three top-six showings in two competitions against a load of Division I talent at the Tulsa Invite.

Central finished sixth and 12th in the Varsity 8+ race while finishing third and fifth in the Novice 4+.

"We raced well," UCO head coach Brian Ebke said. "We didn't race our best, we're still getting better. But we raced well against some good teams and we're ready to go into the break and work hard to be ready for the spring."

Central's top V8+ boat finished the 4k head race sixth with a time of 18:39. Southern Methodist, Tulsa, and Kansas finished ahead of the Bronchos. UCO had its second V8 boat compete as well and it finished 12th with a time of 21:27.

In Novice 4+ racing, the Bronchos finished third with a time of 24:29, with two SMU boats ahead. Central's second N4+ boat finished fifth behind Tulsa with a time of 25:34.

UCO is off for the remainder of the fall. The Bronchos will pick back up in the spring with a 2k racing. Central Oklahoma will enter the spring as the two-time defending national champions in Division II.
