UCO Visits Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team will make its first overnight road trip this weekend, with the 24th-ranked Bronchos taking on Missouri Southern Friday at 6 p.m. before a Sunday matchup against Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
 
Central Oklahoma heads into the weekend 7-1-2 on the season and has a 2-1 record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Missouri Southern is 2-8 on the season and has a 1-2 record in league play.
 
UCO will look to continue its torrid pace against MSSU. The Bronchos rank fourth nationally in goals scored this season with 34. Central ranks sixth in scoring offense at 3.4 goals per game. UCO is also third in the country in total points, having assisted on 29 of 34 goals this season for a total of 97 points.
 
Kelsie Eason and Asha Haile lead the charge. The duo has nine goals each this season. Both also have six assists (24 total points).
 
They rank seventh in the country in points, ninth nationally in assists, and 14th in goals scored.
 
Haley Post has four goals scored and four assists this season to add to the offense. Eden Jones, Taryn Kedzior, and Hannah Daaboul each have two goals apiece. Six Bronchos have scored one goal.
 
Defensively, Central Oklahoma allows 1.3 goals per game. Kaitlyn Asher has taken the lead in goal and has a 0.97 goals against average in eight games played. The junior has played over 700 minutes in goal, has 22 saves, and has only allowed eight goals this season.
 
Missouri Southern averages 1.1 goals per game this season, and allows 2.3. The Lions are led by Bailey Belcher and Ashton Manwill, who both have three goals scored. Riley Laver has played nearly 800 minutes in goal this season and has made 51 saves. She is 2-6-0 in net.
 
Central Oklahoma will move from Joplin to Warrensburg. The Bronchos take on fifth-ranked Central Missouri Sunday at 1 p.m. That game will be the NCAA Division II Showcase Game of the Week.
