Surging Central Oklahoma looks to continue a pair of lengthy winning streaks this weekend when the No. 15-ranked Bronchos begin Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play with a pair of home matches.

UCO is 12-2 on the season, having won 11 consecutive matches and 20 straight sets.  The Bronchos take on Southwest Baptist (4-9) at 6 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Field House before meeting Missouri Southern (0-9) at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Central's 11-match winning streak is tied for the eighth-longest in school history.  The record is 22 in a row, set in 2002.  The Bronchos have also had streaks of 18 (2005), 17 (2017), 16 (2015), 15 (2014), 13 (2016) and 12 (2007) in addition to 11-match streaks in 1993 and '94.

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO went on the road Tuesday and swept Arkansas-Fort Smith for its second consecutive win over a defending conference champion.

The Bronchos downed reigning Great American Conference champion Arkansas Tech last Saturday in the final match of the MIAA/GAC Challenge before beating the defending Heartland Conference champion Lady Lions Tuesday.

Senior Taylor Bevis had 16 kills and sophomore Haley Deschenes added 12 to lead Central in the rout of UAFS.

Bevis, last year's MIAA Player of the year and a first-team All-American, tops the team in kills with 179.  She ranks third in the conference with 3.98 kills per set while having added 131 digs and 26 blocks.

Bevis has hit .333 in the last three matches with 41 kills and 10 errors in 93 attacks.

Senior Karyn  Chrisman and Deschenes are next on UCO's kill list with 91 apiece, while sophomore Malia Kaaiohelo has added 81 and senior Jordan Spence 75.

Spence leads the team in blocks with 44, ranking fifth in the MIAA with 1.02 per set.  Kaaiohelo has 31 blocks.

Junior Dominique Lipari is third in the league in digs with 5.02 per set, having racked up 231 on the season.  She had 22 digs in the UAFS win, her third match of the year with more than 20.

Senior McKenzie Fyfe and sophomore Ericka Scholl continue to share setter duties for the Bronchos.  Scholl has 239 assists and Fyfe 204, with Scholl also having a team-high 19 service aces.

RECORD WATCH:  Senior Taylor Bevis remains sixth on UCO's career kills list with 1,519 and needs 33 more for fifth.  She's eighth in all-time attacks with 4,051.

Senior Jordan Spence is still seventh on the school career chart for solo blocks (60) and sixth for assisted blocks (326).  She's 11 solo blocks and 12 assisted blocks from moving up another spot in each category.

Senior McKenzie Fyfe ranks 10th in career assists with 1,399.

Junior Dominique Lipari is closing in on the top 10 in career digs.  She has 1,254, needing 161 more to reach the top 10.

ABOUT SBU:  The Bearcats are 4-9 on the season and are led by Greyson Roster (98 kills, 367 blocks) and Delanie Tipton (77 kills, 38 blocks).

The two teams met in the season opener back on Aug. 24, with the Bronchos claiming a three-set sweep at the Tarleton State Invitational.  UCO has won nine straight in the series and leads the rivalry 17-2.

ABOUT MSSU:  The Lions are 0-9 and play at Pittsburg State Friday before coming to Edmond.  MSSU is paced by Janelle Brehm (92 kills, 92 digs) and Shaylon Sharp (59 kills, 51 digs).

Central leads the series 19-7.
