UCO Hosts Dallas Baptist at Oak Tree

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team hosts Dallas Baptist Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Oak Tree Tennis Center in a non-conference match.

The Bronchos, ranked 17th in the country, are 2-1 on the season. UCO's lone loss came to NCAA Division I squad Eastern Michigan this past Sunday. Dallas Baptist is 5-1 on the season and on a four-match win streak.

"This is going to be a good test for us," UCO head tennis coach Jaron Maestas said. "DBU is a good team. We need to go out and play like we're capable of playing and be focused. It's going to take a strong effort up and down the lineup."

UCO has been solid in its doubles lineup in the early part of the season. The Bronchos won all three doubles points in their match against SNU last week, and won the doubles point against Eastern Michigan (Division I rules) after winning two of the three matches.

Kirtana Bhat and Laetitia Charbonnet head up the charge in doubles action. The duo is 8-3 on the year, 2-1 in duals. Alli Hodges and Paola Landin are 5-4 overall in doubles play, and also are 2-1 in dual matches. Alix Williams and Sarah Van Eeckhoudt are also 2-1 in dual matches and have a team-best 8-2 overall mark this year.

Hogdes has the team-high in singles' wins with 11. She went 9-4 in tournaments this past fall, and is 2-1 in duals this semester. Bhat, Charbonnet, Landin, and Van Eeckhoudt are each also 2-1 over the past two weeks in singles competition.

UCO is home for the weekend. The Bronchos will play Arkansas Tech on Sunday. That match is scheduled to be played back on campus at Broncho Courts.
