Central Opens MIAA Play at MSSU

JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team travels to face Missouri Southern Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association matchup for the Bronchos this season.

The Bronchos are 5-2 after defeating Oklahoma Christian in Hamilton Field House last Thursday. The Lions are 6-1 on their season after taking down Baptist Bible College on Thursday.

"It is going to be a tough matchup against MSSU." UCO head coach Tom Hankins said. "We fell to them last year and we need to come out ready to play."

Central Oklahoma averages 80 points per game with a 42 percent shooting average from the field. UCO leads the MIAA conference in free-throw percentage (81.6 percent) and ranks fifth nationally with that mark. UCO's defense forces an average of 16.3 turnovers per game for the opponent.

UCO is led by Adarius Avery, averaging 18.9 points, 12 steals, 10.4 rebounds, and 17 total assists on the season so far. He was named MIAA Player of the Week on Monday. Josh Holliday is averaging 13.6 points per game, and has nine steals and 19 assists on the year. Ashford Golden averages 10.5 points and has six total blocks.

Cam Martin leads the Lions averaging 24 points and 7.9 rebounds. Kinzer Lambert averaging 19.3 points and 6.2 rebounds.

The Bronchos will continue their season on Saturday, Dec. 8 as they travel to take on Pittsburg State.
