UCO Hosts River City Holiday Classic In San Antonio

Central Oklahoma co-hosting With Pittsburg State 16-Team Event

SAN ANTONIO – Central Oklahoma is co-hosting with Pittsburg State the second annual River City Holiday Classic this week when the Bronchos will play two Top 25 teams in non-conference play.

The event is taking place at St. Mary's University and Northside ISD. Pitt is hosting the StMU site while the Bronchos are hosting at Northside Sports Gym. UCO will play No. 7 St. Mary's and No. 14 St. Edward's this week. Games are scheduled at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. both days. UCO will play at 1 p.m. both days.

Fort Lewis (Colo.), St. Eward's, St. Mary's, Missouri St. Louis, Texas A&M Kingsville, Rogers State, and Dallas Baptist join the Bronchos at Northside. 
 
The Bronchos are 7-5 this season. UCO is breaking from MIAA play after a 1-2 start in three league road games. 
 
Central Oklahoma is averaging 73.1 points per game this season and shoting 46.4 percent as a team. The Bronchos shoot 30.9 percent from behind the 3-point line and average 4.8 made 3-pointers per game. UCO shoots 71.2 percent from the free-throw line and averages 12.6 made free-throws this season. 

Josh Nwankwo and Matthew Willenborg lead the Bronchos. Nwankwo leads the team with 18.8 points per game and Willenborg is averaging 17.9 points per game. Willenborg is third in the country in field goals made (86) and is fourth in the country in rebounds (106) while also ranking second nationally in total blocked shots (33). Nwankwo ranks third nationally in field goals made (81) and is fifth in attempts (172). He is eighth in total points scored (225).

Nwankwo is second on UCO in rebounding behind Willenborg at 5.9 rebounds per game. He also adds 3.6 assists per game, most on the team, and 2.3 steals per game, also most on the team.
 
Marcus Zeigler Jr. adds 9.1 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game. Parker Hannah (4.5), Ben Averitt (4.2) add to the scoring load for the Bronchos.
  
Central Oklahoma will break for Christmas following this week's games in San Antonio. The Bronchos host Dallas Christian Dec. 30 in the final non-conference game of the season.
