Bronchos Home Opener Set For Saturday

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team will take on Southwestern Christian University for its home-opener Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos are 2-1 so far on the season after falling to Southern Nazarene on Thursday night in Bethany, Okla. The Eagles, also of Bethany, Okla., are 2-2 following Saturday's loss to Ottawa University.

"We need to come out ready to play from the opening tip to the last whistle." Head coach Tom Hankins said. "No game is given to us. We have to battle every possession."

UCO fell behind early in the matchup against SNU on Thursday. They had their biggest lead of the game with 10 minutes left in the first as SNU began a run that the Bronchos couldn't recover from.

Senior Josh Holliday leads the Bronchos averaging 21 points, three rebounds, and six assists in the last three games. Adarius Avery averaging 14 points and nine rebounds. Ashford Golden averaging 11 points.

Anthony Thomas leads the Eagles with a 51 percent (11-24) scoring average with eight assists. He had 12 points and five rebounds in SCU's loss to Ottawa. Darius Madkin averaging 11.5 points and Patrick White, 11.3.

Central will continue their season after Saturdays matchup at the West Texas Thanksgiving Classic in Canyon, Texas on November 23 and 24.
